About Greg

I've never been real great at writing these autobiographical sketches. I find myself quite boring, and don't really like trying to find exciting bits to display for your edification and amusement. With that said, here's the important info, in third person because I am secretly Dr. Doom. (Okay, it's actually because I had to write one of these once before and am lazy.)

Greg was born in Minnesota, raised in Minnesota, and will most likely die in Minnesota. From an early age, Greg was fascinated by books and by eleven years old he was single-handedly responsible for 42% of withdrawals from the local library. Inspired by Christopher Paolini’s Eragon, Greg decided he could do just as good a job of writing an epic-fantasy riff on Star Wars and the Hero’s Journey. That was not the case. But from then on, Greg was hooked. He’s written fiction ever since. After a short stint in technical school, Greg wound up with a Bachelor’s in English from Gustavus Adolphus College. While at Gustavus, Greg was repeatedly published in Firethorne, the college literary magazine. This encouraged him to submit to the New Yorker. He still awaits any response.

Greg is fascinated by science fiction, fantasy, Lovecraftian horror, and the Gothic. He spends more time than is healthy staring at computer screens, both in his job as an IT technician and in his free time, which is filled with video gaming, writing, listening to music, reading, mini painting, and other sedentary pursuits. He used to snowboard, but hit his head one too many times. He still skateboards, because concrete is much softer than snow.

Greg’s writings can be found in Firethorne, here at cthulhuwept.com, and in the short story and poetry collections Hallowed Ground and Abyss Blinked. Someday he’ll finish the Great American Novel. That will be the same day he updates his blog, shaves, and gets a second date with the same person. For now he writes short stories and poetry while unshaven and weeping.

If, for some inexplicable reason, you would like to contact Greg, he can be emailed at greg@cthulhuwept.com. Signing him up to receive pictures of cute baby animals is considered an acceptable form of communication. His password is not “swordfish.”
