Backlog Blitz: Master System, Week Three, "Dead Dud Dragon"

Ah, I do love me some cheap ramen. Mmm. Delicious. In the background of my computer, I'm transferring 4 terabytes of data from one external hard drive to another. It feels a bit ridiculous. Anyway. Old games. Terrible old games.

Dead Angle

So this is a mafia arcade shooter where tommy guns make pew pew noises. The graphics are pretty good, and the gameplay is solid, but the audio is atrociously limp. Overall it’s just…okay. I guess.

Dinobasher

So…while this game gets terrible marks in the historical accuracy and soundtrack columns, it’s actually a pretty competent platformer in the Mario vein. Graphics aren’t too bad, controls are tight and responsive, gameplay is solid enough… If this had a better soundtrack it’d be pretty good.

Double Dragon

I wasn’t a huge fan of the NES version of Double Dragon, but that was still a far superior game than this. Sound is bad, graphics are poor, controls are alright, gameplay is lackluster… It’s not great.

Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine

So this is Dr. Mario. Only, instead of a balanced campaign mode and great music, we got a campaign mode where the first opponent has NO WIN CONDITION and the music makes my ears bleed! Seriously! I had twice the score of the first AI opponent and it managed to drop 20 dud blocks on me. On top of that, my blocks were dropping at twice the speed of his. This is terrible.
